Leith Hill Tower

After a heavy snowfall the evening before, I set out before sunrise for Leith Hill Tower in the Surrey Hills, hoping to capture the landscape before the fresh blanket of snow began to disappear. The morning started with almost no visibility, as thick mist covered the surrounding hills, making it difficult to know whether the conditions would improve.

As the sun gradually climbed above the horizon, it began to burn through the mist, revealing the snow-covered woodland below. Soft golden light filtered through the haze, creating layers of atmosphere and drawing attention to the tower standing proudly above the winter landscape.

It was one of those mornings that served as a reminder that patience often pays off. What began as a grey, featureless start quickly transformed into a fleeting display of light and atmosphere, one that lasted only a short time before the mist lifted and the snow began to melt.
